Before you start you should check with your teacher or when you go get fitted for your pointe shoes they could help you out and give you some recommendations. The type of padding depends on each dancer and you will figure out what works for you. I've used surgical tape to prevent blisters and they make gel pads if you want to try those.

Use toe pads called ''Ouch Pouch'' (it has a fabric texture). It is durable and comfy..could last you your life time! DO NOT use the gel types.they tear easily in like less than half a year and are not comfy!

If l were you l would get something that is comfy but not too thick, only because if you get something super thick (like gel pads) its harder to feel the floor when you are actually rolling up into pointe, and you might roll over the box of your shoe and end up hurting your self. l would recomend ouch pouch pads. or ouch pouch junior pads if you have small feet like me!

You need to check with your teacher before you start to use anything. l was only allowed to use lamb is wool at first and then l got the lamb is wool toe pads. They do wear easily, but they help you to ''feel the floor'' better then gel ones
