Ok, at Wayzata High School we're having a Semi-formal dance tonight... and l have no idea what to wear! its my first dance! what do you guys think?

Technically, semi-formal means dinner jacket (tuxedo). In school dances, it is ramped down a notch, to the equivalent of a business suit (not a sports jacket and tie: that is one step too far).

if youre going to a semi formal dance, like homecoming or something,
wear a nice shirt [like a button down shirt]
and nice jeans.
if you really want to wear a tie.. go for it.
