hi l am 12 and l have been doing ballet since l was four.
i am tall, slim and l have a ballerina is body (strong legs, tummy and arms)
i am at istd grade 3 and l do ballet once a week
i am not rich and l cant really afford to go to a very posh ballet school but l have always dreamed of being a ballerina.
the reason that l am at such a low grade is because l used to go to a very relaxed ballet school and l have just started going to another place.
i really wanna be a proffesional ballerina and l try to practice everyday.
help?

Keep practicing and you will rise. Have confidence in yourself! Smile! l have realized that just being an all around person, but also full of self- confidence, and determination helps you be noticed in a good way!
You will get there!
Believe!

l think u should continue ballet, but if ur really want to become a ballerina, l think u should enter a posh ballet school. And if u can not afford that then keep trying, maybe when u a little bit older like when u r 16, ask ur ballet teacher if u have what it takes to become a ballerina & then decide if u really want to become a ballerina & join a posh ballet school. l consider Vaganova Ballet Academy. Also, l do not think once a week is enough training. Work hard & good luck!

whatever you do.do not let this bring you down. just try harder and put a little more effort than u usually did. every ballet school is different. it is just like really school if u are moving on to a higher grade like 7th or 8th you will have to adjust to the higher standerds. if you wish to become a great ballet dancer than keep trying and never give up!!

l am also 12 and have been doing ballet for five years. If your school does not have a ballet school, you can check out some videos and learn from there. If your school does have a ballet academy, usually they buy the shoes and stuff for you too. Good luck.

Audition everywhere, and apply for every scholarship you can find.

You really need to be doing more than one ballet class a week if u r serious about being a dancer. Where my daughter goes, & she is only five, she has 11 classes a week, ranging from 3 ballet classes, two tap classes, song & performance, classical greek, Jazz, modern, Hip Hop.. all these different subjects enhance different muscles & make life easier when looking at going to dance as a career. My 5yo daughter is currently Grade 1 RAD, taking her exam in March, although she also does non-syllabus Ballet, & private lessons where she learns the Grade 2 syllabus. At her dance school most girls aim to go onto pointe at about age 10/11, & by the age of 12 they r probably dancing at least 12 or 13 hours a week. l really think that u need to work very hard at ur dance if u r serious about dance as a career, & then at 15, once u have caught up with other girls ur age, look at auditioning for Dance colleges, such as Tring, Royal Academy of Dance, Hammond etc, & apply for a scholarship if u believe ur not able to afford the fees. However, be aware that usually there r about 200 girls after 5 or 6 scholarships, so u really need to be THE BEST. It is no good being mediocre at dance, u really hvae to be the best! Good luck

Hi! You should try and get a scholarship at the royal ballet school. l still go to a relaxed dance school and an older boy called James got in. Just keep practising what you've been taught and attempt some moves like pirouettes and beats so you're ahead! ;-)

everytime u get out of ballet class, write down what u did that day, combo is u like & or need to work on, correctons that ur teachers give you, strethes to help you,ect
after class, ask ur teacher what u can do to improve, & when she gives u teqniqu corrections, act on it emidietly
the days u dont have class, do bar execises behind a chair or whatever
also, when u hear about auditions for something, go to the auditions & see what they say.if they deny u then u got the experience & that should motavate u to improve & audition next time..if they accept u the next year u know youve gotten better

Hi, l have some suggestions for you:
1) Have a chat with ur ballet teacher & ask if she thinks u have potential in ballet. If she is a good teacher she will be honest with u & not raise ur hopes if u do not have the potential.
2) Do not worry too much about going to a vocational ballet school at 12. You can apply at 16 & see if u can get a DADA (Dance & Drama Award) to help with the fees.
3) If ur teacher thinks it would be a good idea, it would be worth doing ballet twice a week instead of just once. You do not necessarily need to have private lessons, even group lessons twice a week r worth doing.
4) If u live near enough to them, a lot of the Vocational Schools in the UK have Outreach days where u can go & see the school & have dance classes there for a day. Depending on where u live, have a look at the websites for the Royal Ballet School, Elmhurst, Hammond, & Arts Ed at Tring to see if they hold any Outreach days.
5) All these schools also run what is known as Pre-Vocational Programmes (PVPs or Associates) for children that r talented at ballet. These r usually by audition once a year. At Arts Ed (Tring) these r known as JCs & they audition in about June for classes starting in September.
These classes r held at the weekend & r wonderful as u get a chance to dance at a Vocational School & classes r taught by fantastic teachers, most of whom teach at the Vocational School during the week.
All the above schools have some aided place where some of the fees r paid by the Government under the Music & Dance Scheme (MDS). The Royal Ballet School at White Lodge has the highest proportion of these places but it is the hardest to get into.
So have a chat to ur teacher, ask ur parents about doing another class each week & have a look at the websites below to see about Associate Programmes & Outreach Days.
And (my jaw dropped at this) there is no need to do 11 classes a week!
Good luck!
