I am just wondering. l took lessons from when l was about 6 all the way to 11, then quit because l hated the teacher (she was unbearably sarcastic). Plus, l was choosing between music and ballet - and music won. I am doing a music performance degree now. When l stopped l was doing RAD grade 5, and the teacher had already brought in pointe shoes for us to try (even though most of us would not be doing pointe for another couple of years yet).
l still love ballet though, and watching my young 12-year-old cousin dancing and loving it brought back memories. Sometimes l find myself doing long-abandoned ballet poses and movements when I am alone at home, consciously or unconsciously. More than a few people have told me that my standing and walking postures look like a dancer's, and then when l tell them that I've had lessons, they go ''no wonder''. l do not think I will be doing serious studies in it because I am aware that I am probably too old to be really successful, but l would still like to know if l can still dance decently at least for pleasure. I am 18, and 5'5 if that helps any.

Do what makes you happy, if you are healthy and it does not get in the way of family life then why not?

18 is too old to go pro.. but you can always take an adult class or just a class for your age group for pure enjoyment. And if you practice practice practice, you could go on pointe and if you practice even harder and keep on taking lessons maybe you could even be a ballet instructer one day and do a better job than that sarcastic lady!! haha. Sorry l said you probably can not go pro but im just trying to be realistic.

l think it is great. Your never to old. It will help your posture, balance, and flexibility. l asked myself that a few months ago when l began taking ballroom dancing for some upcoming scenes l will be in. But l feel like l have more energy. Good luck and enjoy!

Its never too late! there is no reason for you to be to0 old. Its like learning the piano, except much more physical. And since you dont' want to be a professional, there is nothing stopping you
