''Ballet emerged in late 15 century Renaissance court of Italy, as a dance interpretation of fencing, & further developed in the French court from the time of Louis XIV in the 17th century. This is reflected in the French vocabulary of ballet. Subsequently, after 1850, ballet flourished in Denmark & Russia. It was from Russia that it returned to Western Europe & subsequently the globe.''
l believe it is considered an art form, but l personally believe that it should be a sport, because it requires an astounding amount of athleticism.

l know for sure that Ballet is French and Russian but l do not know too much about it is deep history. In my point of view ballet is an art. A sport in my mind is something more active and less elegant. I'd put ballet under the category of the arts.
You'd have to be very elegant and graceful to perform ballet and not care about wearing small tutus. Lol
Anyway, that is all my brain knows right now.

ballet as we know it today originated in France several hundred years ago. and strictly speaking, ballet is usually an art, not a sport, because the definition of a sport requires team competition. However, there r ballet competitions, so technically, if a ballerina involves in those competitions, they r involved in a sport however, the definition of art is (n) the expression or application of human creative skill & imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power and ballet definitely fits in that category
